What is a big bang challenge?
Big bang challenges are collaborative efforts between artists and authors.  Authors sign up to write a story with in a certain predetermined time frame and artists sign up to create art for the works they produce.

How can I participate?
There will be separate posts for both artists and authors on the day sign ups commence. A template will be provided which you will then use to comment with sign up information.

What type of crossover qualifies for this challenge?
This big bang is specifically dedicated to the three way crossover of The CW's Supernatural, BBC Sherlock, and BBC's Doctor Who.

What genres do you accept?

All of them. All pairings and genres are accepted, as long as the main focus of you story is some combination of these three shows. Slash and gen fic are all welcome. AUs are permitted as long as the story still revolves around some combination of Supernatural, Sherlock, and Doctor Who characters.

How many characters from each show do we use?
In order to be eligible for our challenge, your work must include and least one character from each show.

Is RPF acceptable?
Yes, but at least one actor from each show must be used.

Do I need to join the community?
Yes! When you sign up please join the community ASAP as many important messages will be friendslocked.

I have a question.
Leave us a comment! We don't bite!

If we sign up as a pinch hitter, are we required to submit two pieces of art if we end up pinch hitting?

What about Torchwood? (or Torchwood instead of Doctor Who?)

    [info]athriax

    January 31 2012, 05:20:41 UTC 3 months ago

Torchwood can be used in addition to Doctor Who, not in place of it.

I figured that would be the answer, I just wanted to make sure using Torchwood at all was okay. Thank you.

But, (and I don't mean to be quarrelsome, if you say that this is how it is, then I'll obey the rules without a pout) isn't Jack Harkness a character from Doctor Who? If I happen to also use other characters from Torchwood, that doesn't make Jack any less of a companion, surely? Do we specifically have to use the Doctor? Or is it more about the context we use Jack in, as in, if he is our Doctor Who character, then he can't be part of the Torchwood team from the beginning of the story?

Do you have a promotion banner or code? I know a place or two to promote this.

When registering as co-writers, do we use one form and put both of our info on it or separate forms? (I'd imagine one is more convenient, but I wanted to be sure.)

Sorry, this might sound a bit weird but I'm just wondering if Classic Who counts as well? *sorry for all future stupid questions*

    Yes! Classic Who definitely counts.

Am I allowed to sign up as both an author and an artist?

    [info]athriax

    February 23 2012, 20:25:46 UTC 3 months ago

No, but, if and when the time comes, authors will be allowed to serve as pinch-hitters.

Maybe a really stupid question, but: What's the procedure for checking in?

    [info]athriax

    February 29 2012, 01:19:31 UTC 2 months ago

For the first two check ins (which are voluntary) a post will be made with a template much like sign ups where you'll list your word count, anything you feel is going well, and anything you're having trouble with. The third and final check in (which is mandatory) will require that you send that same information to the mods via email.

If we have a friend who's qualified and willing to beta, do they have to sign up? & if they do, are we guaranteed getting them, or are they randomly assigned to authors?

    [info]athriax

    March 4 2012, 04:28:21 UTC 2 months ago

You're free to work with any beta you like. Beta sign ups are there specifically for people who cannot find a beta on their own and would like to solicit one through the community.

Are we allowed to have cameos from characters from other fandoms as long as the fic is Superwholock-centric?

If I am going to submit two fics, should I sign up for the extra fic in the author's signups or just mail two fics to you?

When it's time for third checkpoint, just mail us an update for each fic.

I have a prompt idea I've been waffling about with. It probably wouldn't be possible to achieve without it being an epic type fic so I haven't been sure about adding it to the prompt post. Would a massive fic prompt be acceptable?
